a. This was my year 12 major work in 2017. I designed the desk based on a Herman Miller table called the 'Carafe Table'. It was specifically designed to be used in this position within my room, with this in mind, the desk aimed to seem light giving the impression of weightlessness and space. As this piece was being used as my woodwork major project, most components had to be made of wood which came with restrictions on the design. To do this, each leg is laminate bent, using up to 60 thin pieces of hoop pine to achieve the final 'flowing' aesthetic.

b. This is a photo of the Rivendell house in Canberra, designed by Laurie Virr. I actually visited the house around a month ago as it has won an enduring architecture award. The house was built in 1963 by Laurie Virr and was the first passive solar house, utilizing an entire wall of North facing windows. Reminding me of the work of Louis Kahn in the Fisher House, the composition treats furniture are part of the house, with built-in storage, dining table, and seating.

c. This is an image from my recent trip to Europe. The photo was taken in the city of Prague from the top of 'Powder Tower', named after its primary use during multiple wars (to store gun powder). The range of colours in the composition makes the entire image a pleasure to look at. This coupled with the depth of the skyline, being able to see down to the people walking on the street below to the silhouette Prague Castle on the top of the hill in the background makes this image beautiful.
